Posted Wednesday, the TikTok showed a woman with the handle @saywhaaat getting tearful as she discussed the impact the “Cruel Summer” singer has had on herself and her young daughter. “Hey Taylor, I’m Jenny. I’ve been a fan forever. We’re the same age, so I grew up with you. You, like, saved my life growing up,” the woman said, after explaining to followers that the video was for Swift.

She continued, “And now, I have a 9-year-old daughter who is … everything. And she looks up to you for everything, and your song ‘Mean’ is getting her through bullies at school. She has taken over the reins as No. 1 Swiftie, and earlier this year, we were talking about how good this year has been. And she was like ‘Mom, I’ve had more fun with you this year than ever before.’ ”

The mom — who tagged Swift across the video and in her caption — went on to explain that the Grammy winner was the reason she and her little girl had had such a great year, detailing how the two had been able to catch the singer’s Eras Tour and had been to see the accompanying concert film movie five times in theaters as well as renting the movie, after Swift released it to streaming services on Dec. 13 to mark her birthday.

“For my daughter to sit there and be like, ‘I’ve had the best year with you’ … I am a single mom; I work every day. That means so much to me,” the mom explained, going on to say how much more it had made her love Swift and saying with a laugh that she’d “take a bullet” for the singer, before discussing how much impact the superstar has “behind the scenes.” “I just wanted you to know that you have changed my mom heart, and have brought my daughter and I closer together,” she said through tears, before wishing Swift a merry Christmas.

Many TikTok users commented on the post, which so far has more than 760,000 views, saying that they hoped Swift saw it — and on Thursday, the singer did indeed respond with a sweet note in the comments section of the video. “You just reminded me of why this year has been so special,” Swift wrote, concluding with, “I’m so moved by what you said. It reminds me of me and my mom and the memories we made at that age.”

Swift has been open about her close relationship with her own mom, Andrea, in the past, including in her song “The Best Day,” which pays tribute to their bond, and in a 2020 interview with Variety. “Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom,” she told the outlet at the time of Andrea, who was undergoing cancer treatment and had recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor. “But for me, she’s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness,” Swift added.

Meanwhile, it has indeed been a special year for the singer, who recently celebrated her 34th birthday with friends including Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Jack Antonoff and Zoë Kravitz in New York City after completing the latest leg of her Eras Tour in Brazil in November, releasing her Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film and striking up a romance with NFL tight end Travis Kelce.
Most recently, Swift supported Kelce, 34, at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Sunday, where she watched his Kansas City Chiefs play the New England Patriots, even sporting a knit beanie with her boyfriend’s jersey number, 87, stitched on.
