The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is known for his on-field prowess, but his off-field activities are nothing short of commendable. The two-time Super Bowl champion joined the Chiefs in 2017 and since then, his journey with the franchise as a starting quarterback has been an epitome of success.
After receiving extreme love and support from Kansas City, Mahomes is always on a quest to give back to his community. Mahomes is also known for his philanthropy. Earlier, Mahomes made a contribution to the Kansas City public library to promote youth literacy. And again Mahomes is back in action! The Kansas City Chiefs’ X account shared a video featuring Mahomes at charity events and extending his support toward Kansas City with the thought of giving back to his community. After his nomination for Walter Payton’s Man of the Year award, Mahomes vowed to extend his support toward the Kansas City. In the video, Mahomes shared, “The thing was, I was supported so much and I was given so many opportunities, and that helped shape me. And it was people in my community that would kind of give me those opportunities. And I wanted to make sure whenever I got the yeah, part of a franchise, like the Kansas City Chiefs, I wanted to give back to the youth and those communities that helped me out.”

The award is given to the players who showcase excellence on the field and create a positive impact beyond the game. This award represents Walter Payton’s athletic performance and his off-field humanitarian efforts. To present the award, the 32 nominees, are chosen for their contributions to their communities and will be awarded during the week leading up to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. The recipient of the 2023 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award will be announced during the NFL Honors. Moreover, each nominee will receive up to $55,000, and the award winner will be granted a $250,000 donation to the charity of their choice.
