Jason Kelce doesn’t hold a candle to Aaron Rodgers when it comes to controversial health claims. But one of his recent comments might not be in line with health experts’ input.
The Philadelphia Eagles star, 36, divulged some “anti-scented candle” beliefs with brother Travis Kelce during Wednesday’s episode of their podcast, New Heights. “I am pro-unscented candles,” Jason Kelce said, but expressed skepticism about the safety of scented candles. “There’s no way that’s healthy for you. There’s no way chemicals being burned by a flame and going into the air to the point that you can smell them is good for you. There’s no chance.”
Travis Kelce said he wasn’t so sure, but his brother held his ground. “Nah, it’s unhealthy,” Jason Kelce said. “I hate scented candles with a passion.” (Kelce doesn’t just dislike scented candles. The athlete also said he’d rather “smell poop than poopy Febreze with chemicals.”) Health experts don’t exactly share the elder Kelce’s vitriol for scented candles. But he also isn’t entirely wrong about what burning a scented candle does to the air around it.
