Patrick Mahomes’ disrespectful attitude to Pam Oliver, at least according to some fans, after the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the New England Patriots has caused controversy online.
The star quarterback for the Missouri franchise was wished “happy holidays” by the journalist but he didn’t extend her the same courtesy back in an interview from several days prior, that blew up on Boxing Day. At the end of an interview, Oliver said, “Appreciate it Patrick, happy holidays.” Mahomes elected to respond by saying, “Yeah, appreciate you, thank you.”
Oliver then smiled as she maintained her professionalism although she did sound a little disheartened as she handed back to the studio when she said, “Back to you.” She then walked quickly off camera. Fans react
Mahomes didn’t have much of a reason to be upset as his Chiefs outfit had just emerged with a 27-17 win in Foxborough against Bill Belichick’s side to improve to a then 9-5 record.
One fan posted the video online to Twitter, now known as X.com, with a caption of, “Patrick Mahomes didn’t even say Happy Holidays back to Pam Oliver. F***ing a**hole.” Other users in the comments responded, with one replying, “Kermit hates Christmas”, in a reference to people who claim Mahomes looks like the Muppets character.
A second appeared to defend him by saying, “he thought she was drunk or sick and didn’t know what to do”. A third bizarrely blamed Taylor Swift and even managed to attract a like from a user as he wrote, “This is what Taylor Swift has done to this team.”
Who do the Chiefs play next? Following a 20-14 defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders at their home venue of Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day, the Chiefs hold a 9-6 record for the season. They will look to break a barren run of form against the Cincinnati Bengals on New Years’ Eve (December 31) in an encounter that will be aired by CBS.
