As they prepare to turn the page firmly into 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs are still making a little bit of time for 2023.
After all, it was a historic season for the NFL’s newest dynasty — the Chiefs won the Super Bowl for a second successive season, with team legends Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce winning football’s biggest game for a third time to add to their legacies.
Of course, you can’t talk about the Chiefs’ 2023 season without mentioning Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift. The superstar singer-songwriter became a fixture at Kansas City’s games last season, watching Kelce put up big-time performances in the playoffs to help the Chiefs to another title. And now, the Chiefs’ owner has given Swift a special designation for her loyalty to Kelce and the squad.
Chiefs owner “inducts” Swift into Chiefs Kingdom
Chiefs owner Clark Hunt spoke at an Athletes in Action event in Ohio on Saturday, and he was asked whether Swift warranted “induction” into “Chiefs Kingdom” as one of the team’s biggest fans. The answer was an unequivocal “yes.”
“First of all, we’re so happy for Travis and Taylor, what a great couple,” Hunt said. “It’s now nice to have her as (a big fan) of the Chiefs.”
Swift attended 13 of the Chiefs’ 21 games last season, and Kansas City won nine of those — including Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers. The Grammy-winning artist is fiercely devoted to Kelce and recently stayed up late while in the United Kingdom (as part of her globe-spanning Eras Tour) to watch the Chiefs’ Super Bowl ring ceremony live on Instagram, showing once again her dedication to Kelce and his livelihood.
Kelce has reciprocated by appearing at several of Swift’s Eras Tour concerts, but the two have not been able to find time together since an Italian getaway in May. However, the couple expects to reunite in the coming days, when Kelce travels to France and Swift has a brief break from performing.
