The new book, “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass,
” by Variety’s co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh, delves into the untold story of Donald Trump’s years as a reality TV star. Trump himself acknowledges that his presidency might not have been possible without his role on The Apprentice.
Setoodeh conducted an interview with Trump last November, asking for his thoughts on Taylor Swift. The former president responded, “She’s beautiful-very beautiful! I find her very beautiful. I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump. I hear she’s very talented. I think she’s very beautiful, actually-unusually beautiful.” Trump added, “She’s legitimately liberal? It’s not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal”
Trump also mentioned that while he recognizes Swift’s “great star quality,” he isn’t familiar with her music. The image of Trump singing Swift’s hits like “Shake It Off” or “Love Story” is certainly amusing but would likely garner the attention of the younger voters in the upcoming elections.
Swift has a history of political endorsements, having publicly supported Tennessee Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives in 2018. Whether she will endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential race remains to be seen. Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, have been at the center of conspiracy theories suggesting they are Pentagon agents backed by Biden and the NFL to secure his re-election, illustrating the intense public and media scrutiny they face.
