Patrick Mahomes is already one of the most winningest players in NFL history. His three Super Bowl rings is reason enough to make anybody nervous and even more so by doing it at age 28.
With that said, it is not strange to se one star flinch when they see another one, especially if they meet up for the first time. That was what happened when Mahomes saw Lionel Messi at Arrowhead Stadium. “I was nervous…. I was very nervous (to meet him) I didn’t know what I was supposed to say and said ‘have fun out there. He scored a goal, he had an assist, he had a great time,” Mahomes told Logan Paul on his podcast “Impaulsive”.
He is part owner of the MLS team Sporting Kansas City and they were to host Messi and Inter Miami. Sporting usually plays their games at Childrens Mercy Park but with Lio and Inter playing in KC, the game was relocated to the home of the Chiefs.
“So I was walking down the hall and they’re walking in a tight hallway. He’s going to warm up, what am I supposed to say? (I said) ‘Have fun out there’ and he had a goal and an assist, so I feel like he had a great time, he had fun, it was all on me.”
Sportings stadium holds 25,000 fans but Arrowhead has a capacity of 76,000 and the move paid off to see the most recent FIFA World Cup winner with Argentina.
There were 72,610 fans in attendance as Inter Miami won the the game by a score of 3-2. That was the fourth-largest crowd in MLS history.
