The ex-NFL running back, Merril Hoge, has defended Taylor Swift by calling those blaming her for the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss of form as “weak and stupid”.

Hoge played in the NFL for eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears after being selected in the 10th round of the 1987 draft and the 58-year-old further added that those blaming her don’t understand how locker rooms work. One notable critic is Skip Bayless, often outspoken and controversial, who claimed she is a distracting presence due to her relationship with the tight end of the Chiefs’, Travis Kelce, but Hoge was having none of it.

“It’s irrelevant. That’s a media twist,” Hoge told OutKick’s Dan Dakich. “That’s actually just to tell you how weak and stupid media is and people are. It [Kelce’s relationship with Swift] has nothing to do with the locker room. “They’ve never been in the locker room, they clearly don’t understand the National Football League, the dynamics of winning on Sundays – when you win, when you lose, the struggles that exist. Somebody who sings songs has zero to do with it.” What did Skip Bayless say?
Now holding a 9-6 record, many have blamed the Chiefs’ slump in form, leaving them with a 9-6 record, on Taylor Swift. Some have even called it a curse.

One of the voices is Bayless’, who is currently employed by Fox Sports, who blamed her relationship as taking away from Kelce’s focus on the game as he is also in a poor run of form that sees him struggling to make much out of his targets from Patrick Mahomes. “Feels like it’s about time to call Taylor Swift a distraction,” Bayless posted to X.com, formerly known as Twitter. “What do you think, Patrick [Mahomes]? Andy [Reid]? How about you, Travis?”
