According to sources close to the fallout, Lively was furious at being left out of Swift’s VIP suite for the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans, where the pop star cheered on then-boyfriend (now husband) Travis Kelce. The two had attended the 2024 game together.
Lively’s legal team allegedly pressed Swift to publish a post along the lines of “So sad, my bestie couldn’t come to the Super Bowl,” implying no rift existed. If she refused, sources claim, Lively possessed “ten years’ worth” of private messages and conversations about Swift’s past relationships and personal life that could be made public.
The alleged ultimatum built on earlier claims from Justin Baldoni’s legal team in the *It Ends With Us* lawsuit. Court filings asserted that Lively’s lawyers sought a public statement of support from Swift and intimated that personal texts could be released if she declined.
Lively’s attorney Michael Gottlieb has strongly denied any such threats, calling the accusations “categorically false” and “completely untethered from reality.”
A source close to Lively also told reporters the actress never threatened to leak Swift’s private messages. Swift’s representatives have declined to comment.
Insiders say the Super Bowl demand was the final break in a friendship that began around 2015. “There was no going back from that,” one source said.
